Self Motivation – Keep up the Good Work!

Yesterday, I went out an purchased a new bright red pair of shoes for myself. Almost like Dorthy’s slippers. To be honest, I probably didn’t really need them. So why would I spend my hard earned money on a purchase that is not insignificant and not needed. That’s the trick to rewarding yourself. I have achieved some of my goals. If you saw my blog post on 10 Ways to Motivate Yourself to Exercise then you will see that I have recommended that you give yourself rewards when you follow through with your goals. Tony Robbins covered this in his article “REWARD YOURSELF CELEBRATE EACH OF YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS”. When you achieve a significant goal, the reward should also be significant.

Self  Motivation – Keep a Record of Goals and Rewards

We are all told that we should keep a record of our goals. I suggest that when you are recording your goals, take the time to write down all of the things that you might like to have, big and small. Then you have a reward list beside your goals that you can choose from when you achieve your goals. It could be something as small as a coffee or as large as you want. Keep some things from your bucket list on there. When you reach achieve your goals, make sure that you use these rewards for yourself. You might even have to start a reward savings account to make sure that you have the funds to give to yourself when you achieve your goals.

This is not just about goal achievement, it is about being nice to the most important person in our lives…. us. Keeping a tally of our achievements and rewards provides us with something to look back on, and just to feel good.
