Staying strong after 60 isn’t about pushing harder. It’s about training smarter: exercises that protect your joints, improve your balance and keep everyday tasks easy. Irina Marchenkova is an ISSA Master Trainer and Senior Fitness Specialist with over 20 years of experience. She coaches older adults one-on-one by live video, so you can train safely at home with a professional guiding every movement.
Who this is for
- You’re 60 or older and want to stay independent and active
- You’re returning to exercise after a long break, surgery or injury (with your doctor’s OK)
- You’ve felt unsure or unsafe in a busy gym
- You live outside Toronto, or would rather not travel to train
What a session looks like
Each session is one hour, one-on-one, over a video call on your computer, tablet or phone. Irina demonstrates each exercise, watches your form and adjusts it in real time. Most programs need little or no equipment: a sturdy chair, a wall, and perhaps light dumbbells or resistance bands.
Sessions focus on what matters most for healthy ageing:
- Everyday strength: getting up from a chair, carrying groceries, climbing stairs
- Balance: exercises that help you feel steadier on your feet
- Mobility and flexibility for stiff joints
- Core strength and posture, including Pilates-based exercises
How to get started
- Book a $40 trial session through the Book Now page.
- Initial consultation: a video call to talk through your health history, goals and any limitations.
- Your personalised program: Irina builds a plan around your abilities and the equipment you have.
- Train live with Irina, with your program adjusted as you progress.

Frequently asked questions
I’ve never used a personal trainer. Is online training right for me?
Yes. Many clients start as complete beginners. Sessions are one-on-one, so every exercise is set at your level, and Irina watches your form throughout.
Do I need my doctor’s approval?
If you have a heart condition, have had recent surgery or have another medical concern, check with your doctor before starting. Irina asks about your health history at your first consultation and adapts every exercise to suit you.
What equipment do I need?
Very little. Many sessions use just your bodyweight, a sturdy chair and a wall. Light dumbbells or resistance bands are helpful but not essential.
I’m not very good with technology. Will that be a problem?
You only need a device with a camera: a laptop, tablet or smartphone. Irina will help you get the video call working before your first session.
